He asks the question - What is ART?
He hoped to challenge people's perceptions of what art could be. Above is his famous parody of the Mona Lisa with a moustache.

What is a Parody?
A parody is a creative work designed to imitate, comment on, and/or mock its subject by means of satirical or ironic imitation. Often its subject is an original work or some aspect of it (theme/content, author, style, etc), but a parody can also be about a real-life person, event, or movement.
Weird Al Yankovic created a parody of Michael Jackson's song "Beat It".
The models grand wood used to paint his picture and the American Gothic house.
The picture is named after the style of architecture called American Gothic. Gothic Revival Architectural took place in the United States and also went under names as American Gothic, Carpenter Gothic, and Rural Gothic.
Gothic windows have a curved pointed arch at the top of the window and the churches often have tall spires like the Duomo di Milano, Italy.
Recreate your own parody of American Gothic. Draw, Color and Shade well.
