What is a Mandala?
A Mandala in Sanskrit writing means "Circle".
Mandalas are found across all cultures.
In the Hindu and Buddhist traditions, mandalas are an object of meditation to aid in one’s spiritual development.
The imagery depicts the universe, and the symbols represent one’s spiritual journey, the cycles of birth-life-death, and the interconnectedness of all living things. It represents higher thought and deeper meaning given as a geometric symbol used in spiritual, emotional, or psychological work to focus one's attention.
Mandala images first appears in writings in India, 1500 - c. 500 B.C.E.
In art class it is a cool way to make a pattered circle designed Color Wheel.
Traditional Mandalas
