Create a flipbook with 25 of more colored pages & a story board to plan your ideas.
Recommendations:
A pack of note cards works great, because they are a bit thicker and flip well. Paper all cut to the same size also works well, because it is easier to trace at a window.
Story Board - A storyboard is a graphic organizer that consists of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation, motion graphic or interactive media sequence.
Six images like the storyboard example above, often works well. Start with a Title Page, the 2nd page should be your Opening Scene, the next three pages are main parts of the story, end you’re your closing scene and then your credits.
Flip Book:
Create a flipbook with 25 or more colored pages. You can search on the internet for other fun ideas for flip books. But don’t just copy one, be original and make your own.
How to Start:
Gather your 25 or more pieces of paper or note cards. Create a Title Page and include your name on it. Often artists start by drawing the opening scene. The second page they more the image slightly and trace it. They continue with this process until all the pages are drawn. Outlining with a marker, or just drawing in marker makes the image stand out, and look better. The last part is normally going back and coloring the pages.
Some artists start on the last page so when they are tracing at a window it makes sense. Often artists will add more than 25 pages to get their entire story told. Some artists continue with additional flip books to add to the story. Flip books should be fun to make and to view!
Filming your Flip Book:
I recommend the free phone app “Stop Motion Studio”. You must open the app and take the photos in the app for it to be free. “Stop Motion Studio” creates a .mov file so it is easy to share and view.
Photography your title page first. Make sure your camera is exactly the same distance away for each picture. Make sure you have good lighting. Using a tripod or supporting your phone so you are not moving helps to have a cleaner and smoother movie. Photograph your credits page last. View your flip book, then name your file.
