Supplies: Plastic water cup & old tooth brush to spatter water, or a misting spray bottle with water. Camera phone or a camera with macro lens. If you have a macro lens attachment for your camera phone please use it. Hints and Tips: 1. Focus! Get as close as your camera will allow you to and still stay in focus. Many camera phones you can get about 3” away from your subject. Focus on what is most important. (the eyes, head, stripes, color, etc.) Shooting in bright sun light will help with your camera focus and avoid camera shake. Hold your camera very still. If possible, use a tripod and shutter release or timer to avoid all camera shake. Shutter release on I-phone is your ear bud volume button! 3. Find the best subjects possible and shoot at interesting angles. Composition is extremely important. Interesting and unusual angles are best. Tilt your camera or try lying on the ground and shooting from a bug’s eye view! 4. Background colors, textures and environment are important. Gently mist water droplets on flowers, leaves and even spider webs for added interest. 5. If you can, switch your camera or phone to Macro mode in order to get closer (flower icon). Use a Macro clip on the lens of your camera phone, or Blur the background by having a large aperture on your camera (ex. f/1.4). 6. Take lots of photos of each subject, delete the bad ones, hand in your two best from various angles of each subject. 7. Total awesome photos handed in 20! |
