Art Foundations is an interactive art class where students produce art work with a variety of art media. Lessons focus on the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Art history is introduced along with writing artist statements and learning to speak knowledgeably about art and critique artworks.
Some of the media and techniques we cover include; drawing with graphite pencils, charcoal, oil pastels, pastels, colored pencils, watercolor, tempera paint, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, tie-dye, and mixed media.
Supplies: The schools provide very basic supplies for art classes that students share throughout the school year. Many students will bring their own art supplies where they will have a larger variety of colored pencils and often a higher quality that enables brighter colors and the mixing of colored pencils.
