You can have a backing with construction paper newspaper, or colored paper, or use colored construction paper under your sculpture when finished, but you should only have ONE MAIN PIECE OF PAPER.
Plan well. Draw on the back and cut from the back.
Practice first with copy paper.
Use cardboard under your paper when you cut.
