You will get one 8" long 4" wide x 4" deep, floral foam block to carve. You may use it tall or wide or carve multiple objects from it. Floral form is soft, easy to dent, push objects in such as flower stems, and is easy to carve. It is very messy too. Clean up well after yourself.
Goals 1. Create an interesting 3-D sculpture that is formed by carving away and negative space areas or holes. 2. Add parts onto your sculpture to make things stick out by using wire or toothpicks to attach other pieces of your foam. 3. Make sure your drastically change the shape from the original block to receive a good grade. 4. Try your best! As always Effort is alway25% of your grade!
Acrylic Paint
We use acrylic paint to decorate and help harden the foam blocks. Acrylic is a plastic polymer based paint that dries into a hard plastic. It is important that you wash your brushes and clean up immediately when using acrylic paint before it has a chance to dry and becomes permanent. If you get it on your clothes, stop and immediately wash it out before it has a chance to start drying.
Plan out your sculpture and draw it from two different angles on one paper, showing the details and color it. Your drawn out plan is graded separately so do a nice job. Draw one side actual size and measure it: 8" x 4" x 4". The other drawing is normally done from an angle, try your best.
