Students first look carefully at photos of birds. Fold your 8 1/2" x 11"paper in into 6 areas. (in half then in thirds) Sketch out six different birds with different background compositions. Draw circles, squares, triangle or rectangles shapes on top to create a design. Color in your 6 small designs. Take a photo of your 6 designs and submit it for a grade.
6 Rectangles
6 Bird Sketches
Fold paper in half the short direction. Fold in thirds the long direction. Then you have 6 areas.
Our final large art paper will be a bit narrower. I drew in pencil to show you that you can make each rectangle a bit longer and skinner.
You may sketch in your 6 bird designs in each rectangle. You may use the rectangles the tall way or the wide way or mix them up.

Draw 5 or more shapes, (circles work well) to show different drawing techniques. Shapes can be filled with shading techniques, line designs, textures, patterns, and color theories.
Take your time and make an amazing artwork.
Students must use the following media: Pencil for shading, Watercolor, thin black marker or pen, and colored pencil.
Not a bird, you may add other animals, but make sure you also have a bird.
Rectangles and squares can be created with a ruler and can look like a frame.
Plants are great backgrounds and finished artworks too.
